Me and my other half went to see Emmy The Great last week in Amsterdam. She performed in a lovely little venue called De Roode Bioscoop and she was amazing. Her one-woman set was simple and relaxed, and beautiful and heartfelt at the same time.
We had her album Second Love playing most of the weekend. It’s a wonderful album. Have a listen! She started off her set with a Chinese version of ‘Constantly’, the melody of which has been stuck in my head ever since the gig. I thought I’d add both the English and Chinese versions.
Have a wonderful week!
I subscribe to Balcony TV on Youtube and today I stumbled across this one whilst browsing the recommendations.
What a lovely little tune this is. Really enjoyed it, so thought I’d share!
Circa Waves’ new album Different Creatures is out today and on its way to me, so it’s got to be one of their new tunes today!
Much can be said about 2016; many icons left us, the world is an absolute mess and I was terrible at posting, well, anything.
But some good things also happened. I saw some wonderful live music, met some of my musical heroes and discovered some fantastic new bands.
One of those new bands that I have a feeling may well blow up more than I would like to is The Vryll Society. There is a touch of the Roses and the Charlatans about them at times and I love every song I have heard by them! Their songs just worm their way into my heart. Fingers crossed I will get to see them in 2017!
This is their latest and it’s a mighty fine tune!
I know it’s only November, but Asylums’ debut Killer Brain Waves is my Album of the Year. I love it! I love the energy they managed to get onto the record. I can’t wait for an opportunity to see them live in 2017!
Hippo Campus’ debut album Landmark will be out in February on Transgressive Records. For some reason the actual title of the song is ‘boyish’ and the album landmark, but I hate it when titles are all lower case, so I am being rebellious.
I like this song and I will definitely have a listen to their album when it’s out.
I keep hearing this on the wireless and every time I hear it the song buries into my brain a little deeper. Love it!
